How to set a board background

Each slide in Jotboard can have its own background. You can choose from built-in patterns or upload a custom image.

Built-in backgrounds

Click the Set background button at the bottom of the screen to see the available options:

  • Default — Plain white background
  • Dots — Dot grid pattern, useful for general note-taking
  • Blue line — Lined paper pattern
  • Blue graph — Blue Cartesian grid, ideal for maths and graphing
  • Grey graph — Grey Cartesian grid
  • Blueboard — Solid blue background
  • Chalkboard — Dark chalkboard-style background

Click any option to apply it to the current slide.

Custom background image

  1. Click Set background at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Upload background.
  3. Choose an image file from your device, or drag and drop it into the upload area.
  4. The image will be set as the background of the current slide.

You can also upload a PDF page as a background — see our guide on importing PDFs for more details.

Tips

  • Backgrounds are set per slide, so different slides can have different backgrounds.
  • Graph backgrounds are especially popular with maths teachers for plotting functions and coordinates.
  • The chalkboard and blueboard backgrounds work well for a more traditional classroom feel.
