How to use version history

Learn how to view and restore previous versions of your Jotboard whiteboard using version history.

How to use version history

Version history lets you view previous states of your board, see how it looked at any point in the past, and restore an earlier version if needed.

Accessing version history

  1. Open the board you want to review.
  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Version history.

Viewing a previous version

  • Versions are grouped by date in the sidebar and displayed as a timeline.
  • Click on a date to expand it and see individual version timestamps.
  • Click on any version to preview the board as it appeared at that moment.
  • Click Current version at the top of the sidebar to return to the live board.

Restoring a previous version

  1. In version history, click on the version you want to restore.
  2. Review the preview to make sure it’s the right version.
  3. Click the Restore version button at the bottom of the sidebar.
  4. The board will be updated to match the selected version and you’ll be redirected back to the board.

Restoring a version replaces the current board content with the content from the selected version. The restore itself is recorded as a new version, so you can always undo a restore by going back to version history.

Availability by plan

  • Free plan — Version history is not available.
  • Educator plan — Access the last 7 days of version history.
  • Business and Enterprise plans — Unlimited version history.

Tips

  • Version history is useful for recovering content that was accidentally deleted.
  • If a student erases work during a class, you can use version history to find and review what was there before.
  • Restoring a version doesn’t delete any history — you can always restore again if you change your mind.
