Understand Jotboard's licensing model: only teachers and staff need paid plans. Students collaborate for free.
Who needs a Jotboard license?
Only the board creator (teacher, tutor, or staff member) needs a paid plan. Students and other collaborators can join and edit boards for free — they don’t need their own Jotboard subscription.
How it works
- The person who creates boards and manages content needs a Jotboard account with a paid plan.
- Students or collaborators access boards via a shared link, QR code, or email invitation.
- Collaborators can sign in with a free account or join without an account on public boards.
What the paid plan unlocks
A paid plan removes the 5-collaborator limit on the free plan, so an entire class can join a board at the same time. It also unlocks features like version history.
Example
A teacher with an Educator plan can create a board, share it with their class of 30 students, and all 30 students can collaborate on the board simultaneously — without any of the students needing a paid plan.
