Learn how to lock objects in place on your Jotboard whiteboard so they can't be accidentally moved, resized, or deleted.

How to lock and unlock objects

Locking an object prevents it from being moved, resized, rotated, edited, or deleted. This is useful for protecting templates, backgrounds, or any content you don’t want collaborators to change.

Locking an object

  1. Click on the object you want to lock to select it.
  2. Click the three-dot menu on the object.
  3. Click the Lock button.

The object is now locked in place.

Unlocking an object

  1. Click on the locked object.
  2. Click the three-dot menu.
  3. Click the Unlock button.

What locked objects can’t do

  • Cannot be dragged or moved
  • Cannot be resized or rotated
  • Cannot be edited (text or sticky note content)
  • Cannot be deleted

Tips

  • Lock objects that form part of a template before sharing the board with students.
  • Only the person who locked an object (or the board owner) can unlock it.
