How to follow a collaborator

Learn how to follow another collaborator’s slide navigation in real time, and how board owners can gather everyone to a single slide.
Jotboard lets you lock your view to another collaborator’s so that as they navigate between slides, you follow automatically. Board owners can also use the Gather everyone button to bring all connected viewers to their current slide at once.
How to follow a collaborator
- Open a board that has other collaborators on it. You’ll see their avatars in the top-right corner of the header.
- Click the avatar stack to open the collaborators panel.
- Find the person you want to follow and click the Follow button next to their name.
- The button will change to Following, and their avatar will move to the front of the stack with a pulsing ring to confirm the connection.
- As that person navigates to different slides, your view will update automatically.
How to stop following
Your follow is cancelled as soon as you navigate manually. Any of these actions will resume your independent navigation:
- Clicking a slide in the slide panel on the right
- Using the Previous slide or Next slide buttons
- Adding a new slide
You can also open the collaborators panel and click Following to toggle it off without navigating away.
Gather everyone (board owners only)
If you own the board, you can bring all connected viewers to your current slide in one action:
- Click the avatar stack to open the collaborators panel.
- Click Gather everyone at the bottom of the panel.
- Every person currently on the board will be taken to the slide you’re on. Each person will see a brief notification telling them they’ve been gathered and by whom.
A small summary appears for you too, letting you know how many people were gathered.
Things to know
- Following is one-directional. When you follow someone, only your view changes — the person you’re following navigates normally and won’t be notified.
- Gather everyone is owner-only. Regular collaborators and editors can follow individuals, but only the board owner can gather everyone.
- Following is not saved. If you close the tab and reopen the board, you will start on your own slide again.
- Gather brings people to your current slide, not a specific one. Navigate to the slide you want to show before clicking Gather everyone.
