How to use the brush tool

The brush tool produces soft, wide strokes with low opacity. It’s useful for shading, filling areas, or creating soft backgrounds.

Getting started

  1. Click and hold the drawing tool icon in the toolbar to see all drawing tools.
  2. Select the Brush tool.
  3. Click and drag on the board to paint.

When to use the brush

  • Shading or colouring areas of a drawing
  • Creating soft background washes behind content
  • Adding subtle emphasis without overpowering other elements
  • Filling in shapes or diagrams with colour
